GMB is preparing to launch its member consultation on the NHS pay claim for 2027/28, and we need to hear directly from you. The views of NHS members will help shape the pay claim that GMB submits on your behalf. The importance of pay and the impact it has on recruitment, retention and living standards is a recurring theme in GMB’s NHS pay work.

The consultation will run from Wednesday 26 August 2026 until Wednesday 23 September 2026.

There will be two ways to take part:

• Online survey – These will be sent to all members who have given the GMB permission to contact them electronically.
• Workplace visits – GMB representatives and organisers will be visiting NHS workplaces to speak directly with members and gather views in person.

We are currently planning our workplace visits and will provide further details on locations, dates and times in the coming weeks.

This is your opportunity to influence GMB’s NHS pay claim. The stronger the response from members, the stronger the evidence we can present when making the case for better pay and conditions.

By taking part, you can tell us:

• What matters most to you in the next pay claim.
• What steps are needed to improve recruitment and retention across NHS services.
• What priorities GMB should focus on during negotiations.

Every response helps ensure that the pay claim reflects the real experiences and priorities of NHS workers. Whether you complete the survey online or speak to us during a workplace visit, your voice will help shape GMB’s approach.
