Rest Period Dispute Update – Joint Trade Union Statement

Rest Break Dispute Update

Dear Member,

Since our last update, when we advised the “Special Break” provision had been expanded where if you work more than six hours after completing your first rest
break, you are entitled to request your remaining rest break minutes allocation
under the conditions of the “Special Break” process.

We continue to bargain with the employer for an improved Rest Break SOP
incorporating End of Shift Improvements.

Our members have advised that they are being instructed to take their Rest Break
away from their home station. There has been NO agreement on this and crews are entitled to return to their base location to be rested. To be rested away from your base location is completely voluntary. If you believe the option is being presented as not voluntary inform your local Trade Union representative of the detail.

The Trade Unions are now entering a crucial time in the dispute and should be in a
position soon to present the employers final position achieved through negotiation.
This will require our membership to accept or reject the employers final position.
Make sure your contact details are up to date so you can continue to have your
say, especially if this situation escalates.

If you’re not yet a union member and would like to join, please visit the websites of
the unions listed below for more information.

Thank you for standing together. Your solidarity is making a real difference.
